There are many clubs and organizations at Centerville. Neha Jasti is the leader of Interact Club, which is a community based club with the goal of creating volunteer opportunities. They strive to influence students to involve themselves in the community and benefit the Dayton area.

Interact club’s members often volunteer at organizations such as Hannah's Treasure Chest, House of Bread, and other various food drives. Recently, they collaborated with a global organization called Zana Africa to raise money for femine hygiene products for women.

Neha shared that she finds the mission to help our community very inspiring. She told us, ¨Community service is also really fun and gives exposure to the communities in downtown dayton. Interacting with people of lower socioeconomic status really humbled me.¨ A highlight of her experience was the opportunity to volunteer at the House of Bread, a soup kitchen, with her friends. She feels the interactions were fun and insightful experiences to work with others and learn about the people of Dayton.

The meetings are mostly student-led and strive to incorporate members of the club through hearing their opinions and ideas. They work with organizations that the students are interested in, contributing to the collaborative environment. Interact Club meets once a month on every second Wednesday. For more information, listen for the announcements or contact the club’s advisor, Mr. Swan.

Neha also shared her experiences with HOSA, another organization she helps run. HOSA is a medical science club at CHS, also known as Future Health Professionals of America. It is an organization in which students participate in competitions in certain medical fields similar to the atmosphere of other academic events. Centerville High School HOSA is open to all students, not just the Centerville High School Biotech program. Currently the club advisor is Ms. Judy - if interested, consider joining at the start of next year.

Neha explained that she joined HOSA because she wanted to join an academic extracurricular club other than Science Olympiad or Speech and Debate. Last year, Neha and her partner Quinn Watercutter won second place at the International Level. She recalled how competitions are interactive and fun time where her efforts are rewarded.

If you want to get involved then both groups are amazing opportunities to have a good time and get new experiences!
